With the Fringe sadly coming to an end, you might be wondering: “What’s next Adelaide?”. Well, if you like movies, music, cheese, cocktails and dogs, you’re in for a good time. American Express brings you Openair Cinemas, equipped with everything you need for a tranquil night under the stars in Adelaide’s favourite sandy hot-spot: Glenelg. Paw-tunately, this event is 100% dog friendly! Which means you don’t have to face the guilt of parting ways with your pooch when leaving the house for a night out.
The cinema is set up on the beautiful Glenelg foreshore, keeping the summer vibes alive as we enter the cooler months. Cozy couches align the grounds, giving everyone a perfect view of the screen following a golden sunset through the treetops. Food-wise, you will not be disappointed. The all-Italian Salt Meats Cheese have set up shop to offer you delicious wood-fired pizzas and antipasto style cheese platters to see you through the movie. We recommend the classic Margherita topped with shaved parmesan, fresh basil, and drizzled with a rich blend olive oil; all made fresh before your eyes.
To tantalise the tastebuds even more, a pop-up bar will be on deck supplying a splendid selection of refreshing ‘knock off’ drinks from Melbourne Martini. We’re talking Frosé, 4Pines craft beer, Giesen Wine, and drink of the summer: Aperol Spritz. Everyone’s favourite film snack delicacy, Ben and Jerry’s, is also available from behind the bar, which goes down a treat alongside Red Rock Deli’s maple-butter and sea salt popcorn. And let’s not forget about the pups. Deemed the ultimate VID treatment, Darby’s Dog Bakery and Deli are supplying an array of doggy treats for your furry friend to nibble on whilst relaxing on their very own canine couch.
The best part about the temporary set up? Almost every night has different entertainment. On Friday evenings, you can see the Pepsi Max DJ’s work the deck for a little pre-film boogie to get your weekend started on a good note. Visit Victoria will be around on Saturday’s to give you a little insight into what’s happening on the buzzing streets of Melbourne. And if that wasn’t enough, Oz Harvest has jumped on board, introducing Soul-Sundays. This makes for a perfect family fun-day including food sampling, games, music, and all-round good vibes before easing back into the work-week. Due to the kind incentive behind the organisation, Oz Harvest will be donating $3 from every Soul Sunday ticket purchased to help those with little food access. That makes for 6 meals per ticket purchase, a significant contribution to the community.
As this is funded by American Express, there are a few special perks exclusive to card holders. This includes 15% off all ticket purchases, access to the VIP members lounge and complimentary blanket hire for when the evening sea-breeze starts to hit. The gates open at 6pm, and the cinema will be running through until April 15 with a variety of the latest movies on show! To check it out, you can suss the movies and pre-purchase your tickets here.
