Last Wednesday, the Queen Victoria Auxiliary of non-for-profit organisation, Friends of the Women’s and Children’s Hospital, held a sell-out Fashion Night showcasing exclusive looks by local brands Australian Fashion Labels and Seven Men.
Held at Mercedes-Benz Adelaide, Australian Fashion Labels presented the latest collections from each of their five labels, C/MEO Collective, Finders Keepers, Keepsake, The Fifth Label and their newest addition, TY-LR, raising funds for the Women and Children’s Hospital. In fact, it was the first time their contemporary womenswear label, TY-LR, had been on runway publicly since the VIP debut in August.
Refreshments and canapes were generously provided, including the likes of sushi, spinach and ricotta mini pies and gourmet sandwiches.
Modelled by Pride Models and accompanied by looks from Seven Men, the Australian Fashion Labels designer showcase won viewers hearts with a range of edgy styles and structural cuts.
Our particular favourite was a two-piece floral ensemble from Keepsake, separated at the midriff with a unique diagonal cut which we can see becoming a major trend. The crop was high neck and the skirt slightly tulip-shaped with a matching diagonal hem. The floral print was big and bold against a creamy white background, with splashes of subtle pinks, purples and dark greens for the leaves. Such a beautiful design!
Another standout garment was the long, bright coral-coloured skirt from TY-LR, which featured a subtle hi-lo hemline and a curved waistline. Made with a thick, silk-looking material and pleated around the front and sides, the skirt made quite a statement on the runway.
The night finished with an auction of a gorgeous Australian Fashion Labels black, flowing evening dress for the women and tailored suits from Seven Men for the gentlemen, raising massive funds (reaching the thousands!!) to further support the Women and Children’s Hospital.
It was a lovely opportunity to be a part of this charitable event, we look forward to seeing Australian Fashion Labels again at this year’s Adelaide Fashion Festival. To purchase tickets to their AFF runway show, click here.
