Each year we look forward to the Land Rover Polo in the City as it’s a day where we get to dress up, pretend to be fancy and watch dapper men ride around on cute horses playing polo.
This year we were invited as guests of Land Rover, Rundle Place and Hilton Adelaide and we spent a gorgeously sunny day lounging around on white couches, nibbling on delicious canapés and drinking Pol Roger.
Melbourne-based label Once Was dressed us in clothing from their Resort ’16 collection, and we loved the detailed broderie fabric and flowing silhouettes of the garments. Adelaide milliner Adorn by Melissa Barnes lent us some wide-brimmed, structured white hats to wear for the day that we really didn’t want to take off. We felt much fancier wearing her gorgeous headwear creations than we did wearing our usual hats.
Rundle Place held a Fashion at the Polo competition, where three elegantly-dressed girls placed, winning prizes of $100 and $200 Rundle Place gift cards for 2nd and 3rd respectively, and a $500 gift card and bottle of Pol Roger Champagne for 1st.
One of the highlights of the day was the Ladies Dash and Mens Dash, where boy and girls separately ran 100m to claim a prize laying on the ground. It was hilarious watching the girls take off their heels and madly run through grass and the boys tackle and knock each other to the ground, all in pursuit of a prize.
Polo in the City will be followed by Pol Roger Beach Polo on Glenelg beach in February, so make sure to purchase your tickets early to get in on this fun and fabulous day!
