Cellar Door Festival Preview II

By now, there’s no doubt you’ve heard at least a little bit about Adelaide’s upcoming Cellar Door Festival and all of its wine-derful delights.

The other weekend, we were treated to our second preview of the festival, this time accompanied by a uber-load of Adelaide’s beautiful people: the fashion bloggers. If you want to know more about our first preview, click here.

Together we embarked on a tour of the Adelaide Hills, a glorious day so flawlessly organised by Be Young PR and Australian Chauffer Network who transported us around in slick, black Uber vans.

We visited a total of three wineries; Deviation RoadSidewood Estate and Artwine Estate, each of which brought something special to the table.

Deviation Road opened our tour, giving us a brief introduction of their premium wine brand and wine-making procedures. With a specialisation in divine sparkling wines, Deviation Road are the go-to winemakers for that special occasion bottle of sparkling. Deviation Road have even hosted an exclusive Australian Fashion Labels runway at their vineyards where they served their multiple award-winning bubbles to a crowd of fashionable guests!

Upon arriving at Sidewood Estate, we were astounded by the mouthwatering table of cheese that awaited us. Cellar Door Festival is not only a celebration of South Australian wines, but also acknowledges South Australian producers of cheese, chocolate and all sorts of delicious local produce. Woodside Cheeses by Kris Lloyd is one of the quality, artisan cheese brands that will be available for sample at this year’s Cellar Door Fest, offering a range of gourmet cheeses made from the finest buffalo, goat, sheep and cow’s milk.

Perfect day for a glass of Sidewood wine.

One of the cheeses we had the pleasure of trying was the Monet cheese shaped as a giant love heart, just in time for Valentine’s Day! The Monet cheese has won a countless number of awards, one time being named as “The Prettiest Cheese” by Chef Matthew Macartney. It is beautifully decorated with colourful flowers sprinkled on the top, and is a cheese we’ve seen used often at fashion events such as Katya Komarova‘s ‘En Pointe’ collection launch. The Monet is most definitely a must-try.

After a quick round of golf over a stunning lakeview with some hearty shiraz to end our time at Sidewood Estate, we hopped back into our Ubers for a trip to our final destination: Artwine Estate.

Artwine was truly a striking setting; the tall ceiling building bore a grand entrance door while artistic ornaments decorated the inside walls – we could immediately see a link between the winery’s fitout and its name ‘Art’wine. Window panes shone bright light into an all-white, spacious cellar door, where countertops stood with a polished wooden finish and an intricate rose-gold chandelier hung elegantly from the centre of the ceiling. Nothing sat out of place or awkwardly, it was a beautifully designed space. The outside set-up was just as ornate, posing tables that had been set up with fine-dining care and a giant, bright green lawn which stretched out to the vineyards. We just wish we could live here!

Artwine Estate’s beautiful fitout.

Our VIP table was nothing short of welcoming with a gorgeous view of the pasture and vineyards and a personalised gift-bag including an Artwine rosé for each one of the guests. We were served some delightful antipasto platters, including one of the most delectable duck pâté we had tasted in a long time!
