Cherry beer for spring? Yes pls.

Rodenbach Fruitage

Belgium brewery Rodenbach has just brought their famous cherry beer Down Under, just in time for the spring-summer beach season. Rodenback Fruitage owes its refreshing cherry flavour to, you guessed it, cherries, paired with a signature blend of aged ale and young ale.

The Rodenbach way of blending aged and young ale together is a traditional method that was developed in Belgium to make the beer last longer. It gives the beer a slightly sour taste, which is from the acidity of the oak its aged in.

This Rodenbach flavour, paired with the refreshing sweetness of cherries, makes for a great summer’s day drink. We’d recommend pouring it in a tall glass over plenty of ice, topped off with a fresh slice of lime and some mint.

If you’re looking to impress guests this festive season, Rodenbach has some delicious recipes on their website that all feature Rodenbach beers. The fruit gazpacho featuring Rodenbach Fruitage caught our eye, as did the pork chops à la nassogne. The pork chop dish in particular is quite interesting, using Rodenbach Fruitage to deglaze the pan and create a rich sauce with chicken meatballs to pour over the pork chops.

You can pick up Rodenbach Fruitage at Dan Murphy’s and BWS around Australia.
