Friday the 5th of August was International Oyster Day, and with it launched the Oyster Festival at 2kw. In light of these festivities, 2kw teed up Executive Chef, Nick Finn, to organise a night of glamour, oysters and sparkling champagne.
#2KWOYSTERFEST kicked off at 5:30pm in the main rooftop bar at 2kw overlooking the city. We were greeted on arrival with a glass of champagne and, of course, a freshly shucked oyster. This varieties of oysters came topped with lemon and sweet chilli to compliment and contrast the sea-salty flavours of the body.
The night’s oyster selection varied from the Peninsula to Coffin Bay, with each region producing a slightly different flavour from the next, complete with an accompanying palette cleanser to make the flavour differentiation between each tasting as clear as possible.
Each oyster range was served alongside 2KW’s exclusive new wines, our favourite being Prue Henschke’s Semillon Sauvignon. The crisp flavour of this blend was a match made in heaven with the fresh and flavoursome oysters on offer!
And don’t worry, you haven’t actually missed out on the main festivities yet. 2kw’s next Oyster Appreciation event will be held on Saturday the 3rd of September, inviting guests to indulge in more freshly shucked oysters, seafood canapes and live cooked paella from 1pm until 4pm.
Tickets are still available by emailing events@2kwbar.com.au at $90pp. 2KW’s Oyster Festival is set to be the ultimate springtime affair!
