PSA: $40 blowouts and the best haircuts in Sydney at this CBD salon

Jacqueline Louise Hair Sydney

Good haircuts in Sydney are hard to come by if you don’t want to shell out for a mortgage. In the past, I’ve paid upwards of $500 for a decent cut and colour, which is outrageous. When a friend recommended me to Jacqueline Louise Hair, I was so excited to try out not just an independent hairdresser, but one that came so highly regarded.

Tucked away in a historical building on George Street, Jacqueline’s salon is cosy and private. She only sees one client at a time, meaning you get the whole space to yourself, which makes it easy to book in during the workday, bring your laptop and work remotely if you’re in for a long colouring session.

My first visit there was so much fun. Jacqueline is a very socially intelligent person, and she can really tell if you want to chat, need to vent or are after some quiet time to get work done. The service was phenomenal as well, I had a vague idea of what I was after and she knew exactly what I meant.

The brief was a warm chocolate brown, something that looked really healthy after my years of bleaching and blonde shenanigans, with some bouncy layers so my hair sat really nicely in a blowdry. Not only did she nail the colour, but my cut was still looking so fresh months after, so I knew I had a winner here.

The pricing for a cut and colour is incredible for the service offered. It changes depending on what you’re after, and the prices are all listed next to services when booking, so you won’t be in for any shocks when you’re at the salon. From memory, I think my wash, colour, cut and blowdry was about $350, which isn’t cheap, but I think very reasonable to have good hair days for months after (especially when we think back to those $500+ salons around Sydney).

A unique service Jacqueline offers is a $40 blowdry on Tuesdays, $55 the rest of the week. Those are some crazy prices for Sydney (especially right in the city), and her blow-dries are hands-down the best I’ve ever experienced.

I’ve booked in for this service a few times now and Jacqueline knows so many different styles of blowdries. Big and bouncy 90s supermodel, beachy waves, sleek and sexy, classy and classic – if there’s a blowout you’ve seen on TikTok, she can replicate it without breaking a sweat.

If you’re booking in for a blowout, Jacqueline has kindly given us a code you can use when you book. TGWFREE will get you a complimentary treatment add-on, giving you extra shiny and bouncy hair. Full disclosure, this isn’t a paid ad and we don’t make any money from this code. Jacqueline is our regular hairdresser, we love her and we didn’t want to gatekeep her services from you guys!
