The crabs are back again and Adelaide’s just itching to see what’s going on down there. Oh God, that sounded terrible.
But let us convince that it’s not, for our all-time favourite pop-up bar and festival gurus The Little Miss Group have just relaunched their second and final Crab Shack installment, ever. And this summer is without a doubt expected to be a big one.
With their next big project The Fat Controller launching in the next few weeks (shh, it’s all hush hush for now), as well as taking locally adored Royal Croquet Club national, Stuart Duckworth and Tom Skipper of The Little Miss Group are expanding business rapidly by taking things above and beyond the next level.
So, what can we expect from Crab Shack for its final run this summer?
Warmly welcomed at the door, selected guests entered the premises last Friday night for an exclusive preview of the renovations and changes made this time round. Being masterminds at using old and unused items, Crab Shack still remains a place of personality and kitsch style with its rickety old stools and weathered down wooden tables. However, we did notice a change in colour this time.
Having undergone a massive paint-job, the boys did a great job smearing over the off-white and likely dirtied old walls, ledges and posts with a fun and colourful patterned look. Luminous coloured fairy lights lined the edges of the shaded areas, adding to the intense colour of the atmosphere.
Crab Shack still retained its tropical feel as well, keeping its straw-filled tiki rooftops and old nautical objects scattered around for decoration.
Offering a choice of complimentary fruity sangria, cider, beers and wines, the party continued ’til late, simultaneously with the celebration of co-owner Stuart’s birthday.
We also indulged in a range of delicious culinary refreshments as waiters weaved through the crowd serving canapes such as Vietnamese prawn rolls, cheeseburger sliders and king fish served in a spoon. Deeeelish!
And so, after experiencing last week’s delightful festivities we’ve concluded that what the rest of Adelaide can expect from Crab Shack this summer is, as per usual, a place of great beats, tropical eats and an an all-round relaxing vibe right in the hustle and bustle of Adelaide’s CBD.
Thank God it’s open 7 days a week!
