AFF Runway 2: Women’s Contemporary Fashion

Yesterday we attended Adelaide Fashion Festival‘s second runway of the week, Women’s Contemporary Fashion, styled by the notable Nicole Bonython-Hines.

The fashion-forward runway boasted designs by some of our favourite local designers including the likes of Liza EmanueleNamoi, Paige Rowe, Katya Komarova and Millicent Elizabeth.

Katya Komarova opened the show with an absolute bang, showcasing some edgy yet feminine leather accessories against fitted body-suits. We particularly loved the way the nude leather lace-ups were paired with black suede boots, achieving a completely unique and modern aesthetic.

The designer herself,  Katya Komarova, has always had a strong presence in Adelaide’s fashion community not only as an incredibly talented designer, but as a model too! She happened to be celebrating her birthday that very night – what could be more special than celebrating a birthday and the launch of a new collection in one?

The second designer on show was Namoi presenting an array of  basics and statement pieces. We adored the use of splits in following designer Millicent Elizabeth’s effortlessly chic silk garments, each of which flowed ever so gracefully down the runway.

Paige Rowe, as always, utilised layering effectively in her collection. We saw some familiar patterns and shapes, as well as some new styles that cater to women of all sizes.

Liza Emanuele closed with an exquisite selection of feminine silhouettes, each of which were styled alluding to a 50’s appearance featuring classy headscarves and sunglasses. Liza is the queen of black-and-white stripes, bringing it back again for this year’s Adelaide Fashion Festival. An eye-catching maxi style striped skirt by Liza Emanuele was certainly one of our favourites on the contemporary runway, falling in oh-so dramatic way around the ankles.
