It’s the day every girl dreams about… whether she dreams of a gigantic celebration with a cake to the ceiling or an intimate gathering sharing the moment with only her closest, every girl has her own dream for that special day. And with that dream comes a dress just as unique.
Last weekend played host to Adelaide’s Best Day Ever Wedding Festival at the Adelaide Convention Centre, showcasing the best local businesses offering everything you need for the wedding of your dreams. Imagine layer upon layer of cake towering over you in glittering diamantes from local cake connoisseurs Sweet Confessions, or picture yourself with a complimentary glass of exquisite moscato carbonated with the finest bead from Swire and Noble Estates. Yes, this is what you may have missed out on at Best Day Ever Wedding Fest…
But let’s return our focus to the wedding gowns, for these were most definitely the highlight of the event by our books. The festival held a total of seven runway shows over the course of three days, parading designs from the likes of Malachi, Luv Bridal, The Bridal Space, Glamour Room, Red Pearl Couture, Princess Collection, After Dark, GretaKate Bridal, Adelaide Brides & Bloom, Jenny & Gerry’s Bridal and more. Also showcasing menswear from brands such as Peter Shearer and Gerry’s Suite Hire, the runway catered to everyone in its elegant display of formal wedding attire.
Models from Finesse Models Australia glided effortlessly down the runway, circling a gorgeous hoop display hanging from the ceiling and covered in intertwining green vines. The soundtrack, put together by none other than DJ Filip With an F added to the magic of the show as guests stared on in awe at the designs.
Top 3 Picks
We can’t express enough our love for wedding gowns – the intricate design process and overall effort put in to creating just one piece is absolutely phenomenal. The designs at Best Day Ever Wed Fest were nothing short of magical, with some being inherently traditional and others being entirely unique. Here’s our top three picks from the night!
Adelaide Brides & Bloom
There’s something so gracefully breathtaking about this design, featuring an intricate lace bodice and a large swishing skirt. The back of the design is without a doubt just as divine with a simple, low cut lace backing. We particularly love how the lacy design reaches only halfway down the skirt as it makes for a bold yet not too overpowering appearance. The front of the bodice is conservative yet feminine in its make as sheer material covers the cleavage in a v-shape down the centre of the chest. Stunning!
GretaKate
This off-white/slightly pinkish gown is absolutely beautiful and looks just as amazing gliding down the runway. A simple yet unique design and slightly less loud than your traditional wedding dress, this GretaKate piece makes for the most effortlessly classy look if you’re looking for something a little less bodacious. A small train compliments the back of the design and the off-the shoulder top is a very contemporary, in-trend look at the moment. The slits in the side of the waist also add a little sexiness to the garment, which we think is a clever addition.
Jenny & Gerry’s Bridal Centre
Looking at this garment only one thing comes to mind – fairy-tale princess. The way the sheer material layers down to the floor in the shape of an upside flower makes such a statement! And the design has been made in a way that plays down the business of the skirt with a straight-cut sleeveless bodice laced with beading stretching from the front to back. If you want to truly stand out on your special day, this is definitely the wedding gown for you.
