Chadstone hosted the ‘Stylo:Files’ A/W16 runway on Thursday for Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival, encompassing five different style archetypes: The Spotter, The Sculptor, The Selector, The Supporter and The Seeker.
Each of the archetypes seek to represent a certain type of fashion personality influenced by different figures in the fashion industry such as Dan Castano street style photographer, ELLE editor Justine Cullen, fashion illustrator Megan Hess, Dasha and Golin Gold fashion bloggers and model Elyse Knowles.
The Stylo:Files stage was set up in the centre of Chadstone Shopping Centre with giant projections either side of two reflective metallic walls towering over the models. The setting was ever so contemporary and minimalist chic – a perfect fit for the show.
Carla Zampatti opened the I AM CAPSULE collection with a wonderful flowing white garment featuring a high neck and side splits. I AM CAPSULE captured a set of stunning, monochromatic jumpsuits and dresses including designs from Rebecca Vallance, Bianca Spender, Christopher Esber and Ellery. We particularly loved the plunging necklines, off-shoulder cuts and flared sleeves!
MAN STYLE was a definite favourite of ours – we just loved the androgynous and over-sized styles. Each women’s look was distinctly masculine-inspired, with structured blazers and jackets, lace up shiny black shoes, jumpsuits and wide leg pants. Menswear included luxurious brands Aquila and Calibre and womenswear included Veronika Maine, Witchery and Willow. We also saw local label TY-LR rock the MAN STYLE runway.
