Bold hues and even bolder silhouettes. We couldn’t take our eyes off of the designs by Mariam Seddiq.
With a vibrant evening show at Australian Fashion Week this year, Mariam Seddiq showcased an explosion of colour to an audience of excitable onlookers. Each carefully curated piece made a statement in its own right, parading a dynamic colour palette dominated by neon hues and primary colours.
A Sydney-based Prêt-à-Couture designer, Mariam Seddiq’s designs are mostly recognised by their architectural silhouettes. Her pieces offer fluid drapery, structured tailoring, and intricated embellishing detail. Having worked alongside celebrities such as Iggy Azalea and Kelly Rowland previously, Mariam Seddiq’s creations are one-of-a-kind pieces that know how to make an entrance.
And make an entrance they did at Wednesday’s 6PM show, with the first look being a super striking, hot pink pantsuit! Most of the tailoring focused on the top, with emphasis on the shoulders. Draping pieces of fabric twirled from the structured shoulders down, each floating gracefully at different lengths. Complemented by simple flared pants, this look screams Barbie on acid and we love it.
The look that stole our hearts was a fluorescent orange maxi dress, featuring powerful padded shoulders and a dramatic gliding train. While the look featured a modest turtle neck and a rather simple fitted silhouette, all the elements worked together harmoniously. Sleek lines, bold features, electrifying energy.
The overall vibe was monochromatic with accents of paint-splattered flowers. Looks were styled with elegant braids, statement earrings, strappy stilettos, and natural makeup. It was definitely one of our favourite runways we attended, mostly thanks to the dynamic nature of the collection as a whole. Look after look, we fell more and more in love!
