Brassic had us in stitches and you need to watch this now

When it comes to comedy, we find British humour is by far our favourite. Quick-witted, dry and often self-deprecating it’s right up our alley, and Brassic hits all this right on the head. A new TV show that follows a group of friends in North England trying to win at life in the suburbs, it’s all about how your mates can help you get through the week with a smile, no matter what’s thrown at you.

We were lucky enough to be invited along to the premiere with Now TV, where we got to watch the first episode and listen to a Q&A with the cast. Having already watched the trailer we knew Brassic was right up our alley, so we were super excited for the event.

The main character Vinnie is a Lancashire lad with bipolar disorder and is played by one of the creators, Joe Gilgun. He’s a two-for-one kind of deal (kind of like us) with his best mate Dylan (Damien Molony) and they seem to live life by the scrape of their trousers. Dylan’s girlfriend Erin (Michelle Keegan) wants to move away and have a fresh start with her son though, which poses a difficult choice for Dylan.

While mismatched, the rest of the gang complement each other perfectly. From a champion kebab eater to an entrepreneurial garage owner with a side-line in stole cars; they seem destined to get each other in and pull each other out of trouble on the regular. They’ve managed to get by scamming, bribing and conning until now, but meandering through adulthood their crazy lives are starting to catch up with them (in the funniest way possible).

The antics from the gang had us in stitches from the opening monologue to the closing scene. In one hour-long episode there were Shetland ponies, sex swings, illegal poker games and chloroform, and it was a bloody hilarious ride.

Brassic is definitely on our must-watch list for this year and we can’t wait for the series to air on Now TV on the 22^nd of August.
