The Food

When it comes to the food, Social Society goes ALL out. And they do it right. A one-page menu sets the scene for brunch, bringing some classics to the table as well as some super unique picks. From basics such as Bircher Museli and Eggs On Toast to crowd favourites such as a Big Breaky or Eggs Benny, you’ll have no trouble finding something if you’re a picky eater. However, if you like to try new things (and if you’re a little bit extra like us), you’ll want to take your pick from the more extravagant menu options.

Paint It Pink Pasta

So, what’ll it be? A taste of seafood indulgence? A ‘hipster’s dream’? Why not start with our first pick, the Paint It Pink Pasta? Brand new on the menu, this seafood pasta puts all other seafood pastas to shame. Made with a beetroot fused sauce to give the pasta its rich pink colour, this aesthetic dish fits perfectly with Social Society’s pink theme. The best part? It’s topped with the thickest, most succulent prawns – and a generous amount of them, too.

Magic Mushrooms

We also tried the Magic Mushrooms, which is actually the most popular pick on the menu. Complete with sauteed forest mushrooms, soft herbs, folded eggs, shaved truffle and chives on marbled rye, it is a robust dish full of rich flavour. Add sides such as House Hot Smoked Salmon or Thick Cut Bacon to enjoy the full experience.

Speaking of sides, we do love a brunch menu that does sides WELL. Social Society does just that. Extras include Halloumi, Maple Gravy sauce, Whipped Persian Feta, Morcilla, Chorizo, Grilled or Fried Chicken, Guacamole and even more. Perfect your dish to personalised perfection with a vast selection of customisable sides. Deeeelish.

Social Ricotta Popping Hot Cakes

And for all the sweet-tooths out there, let us finish on the Social Ricotta Popping Hot Cakes. Oh. My. God. This is heaven on a plate. The most exciting part about this dish is the ‘popping’ part, with chocolate popping rocks that make a very audible crackling noise upon serving. A triple stack of fat and fluffy pancakes is topped with redskin jam (!!), ricotta, chocolate glass, raspberry fairy floss, fresh raspberry, raspberry collie and chocolate ganache.

Now, we know what you’re thinking. It sounds sickly sweet and overbearing. Well, this isn’t the case. In reality, the flavour is actually very balanced and not overly sweet at all. The pancakes themselves are more savoury than sweet, and they are super thick to compensate for the decadent sugary toppings. Pancake-to-toppings ratio, on point. 12/10 guys.

Next time you’re in the area, or if you’re simply looking for somewhere new and exciting to dine in, we couldn’t recommend Social Society enough. They have a mid-price range that’s really great value considering all the extra love that is put into perfecting their dishes. Check out Social Society’s website and menu here.
