Celebrating World Vegan Day with Covergirl and Sally Hansen

Covergirl Clean Fresh Vegan Makeup Range

Earlier this month we celebrated World Vegan Day with a delicious plant-based feast from Bodhi and a cute night in with some beauty products from the Sally Hansen and Covergirl vegan ranges. Since then we’ve tried a fair few of the plant-based products from these industry-leading brands, so we’re here to share our thoughts on them.

If you, like us, didn’t realise that the nail polish sitting in your bathroom cupboard might not be vegan, we’ll catch you up to speed. Some nail polishes use animal products in them, like ground fish scales to create shimmer, pigment from insects to create colours and animal oils to thicken and add shine. Sally Hansen’s Good. Kind. Pure.™ range uses only plant-based and vegan ingredients in everything from its formulas to the bristles used in the brush. Available in 32 shades plus a top coat, a hardener and a coconut cuticle oil, it’s a beautiful range we’d highly recommend to everyone.

Our favourite shade is Pink Cardamom, a beautifully warm pink nude that we’ve been wearing every day since we received it. Combined with the topcoat it lasts about a week before we reapply it, which we find pretty consistent with all of our other go-to nail polishes.

Covergirl is a cruelty-free brand and Leaping Bunny certified worldwide, meaning that throughout their entire supply chain, nothing is tested on animals. While this is pretty fantastic in itself, the new Clean Fresh range is also made up of vegan formulas, making it perfect for those living a plant-based life. There are three essential products in the range, a concealer, a foundation and a translucent pressed powder, but our favourite was definitely the foundation. The Clean Fresh Skin Milk is designed to be a nourishing foundation and uses coconut milk and aloe extract to hydrate, and as our skin can be a little bit dryer it was perfect for us. It has quite a sheer coverage which is perfect for everyday wear, but can be built up to achieve heavier coverage if that’s what you like. Covergirl’s Lash Blast Clean volumising mascara is also vegan, perfect for finishing off your look with.

You can shop any of the Sally Hansen or Covergirl products at Chemist Warehouse around Australia.
