We rarely need an excuse to celebrate the beautiful Mexican culture, but heading along to a decadent Don Julio brunch at Ella Canta for Cinco de Mayo is a pretty good one, regardless. Located on prestigious Park Lane in Mayfair, this contemporary restaurant is a go-to destination for its innovative food, beautiful presentation and Instagrammable decor.
The first thing we noticed about Ella Canta is the CUTE AF outfits all the staff were wearing. Designed especially for this venue, they were the chicest uniforms we’ve ever seen and were told they have different ones to wear for lunch and dinner. The service was just as impeccable as their outfits, with plenty of helpful staff around to answer any questions, bring another round of drinks and give Kristen another fork when she dropped it on the floor (why so clumsy?).
The first pairing was probably our favourite. Teaming together a toasty quesadilla with corn and Oaxaca cheese and Tommy’s Margarita with Don Julio Blanco tequila, it was a light way to start the meal. The quesadillas were perfectly cheesy and came with a side of salsa verde for dipping, tying the whole dish up.
Two sunny-side up eggs came next with corn tortillas and black mole, deliciously salty and gooey with the runny yolk. Paired with a Toreador made with Don Julio Reposado, which is essentially a margarita but with a dash of apricot brandy, this duo was wonderfully photogenic and demolished quickly after all the snaps were taken.
For dessert our favourite Mexican sweet was served, CHURROS with gooey warm chocolate sauce and dulce de leche. The accompanying drink was a citrusy and crisp Paloma made with Don Julio Añejo tequila, with the grapefruit flavours being a refreshing and welcoming complement to the sugary churros.
As well as regular breakfast, lunch and dinner sittings, Ella Canta also hosts a variety of regular events to excite your tastebuds. From cocktail making masterclasses to exciting brunch’s like this one, head to their website to find out more.
