The Norwood Parade has welcomed many of Adelaide’s fashion favourites over the years, but nothing quite compares to the vibrant aesthetic of Couture + Love + Madness.
If you haven’t already been following the successful journey of this home-grown fashion muse, Cristina Tridente is the fabulous figure behind the designs of Couture + Love + Madness. The label has become best-known for intricate detail, embellished fabrics and a feminine colour palette. The pieces have earnt a place on some of the highest fashion platforms, including Adelaide Fashion Festival and the Qingdao International Fashion Festival in China—a proud moment for SA designers and customers alike. You might have also seen various local celebs sporting her gowns at The Logies (no biggie, right?). Cristina follows a ‘slow-fashion’ incentive, working closely with clients to create high-quality bespoke gowns which have a permanent place in the wardrobe, and in the heart.
The garments you’ll find between the shopfront walls are a true reflection of the brand name, with little uniformity in style. Each new collection showcases a different side to Cristina’s eccentric imagination, which is everything we love about the label. An assemblage of bold colours, voluminous fabrics, feminine designs and modern edge dominate the racks; turning heads from all corners of the fashion field. Cristina twists the conventional meaning of glamour to suit the diversity of her customers. To ensure everyone gets a piece of quality SA style, there is no limitation to the Couture + Love + Madness market; Bridal gowns, formal wear, mother-of-the-bride garments, groom pieces and custom racewear all present a welcome challenge.
While each season comes with new showstopping pieces, the La Vie En Rose SS19 range is something out of a fairy tale. The ladies from Finesse Models were dressed to the nines, as though they had stepped off the set of a Jane Austen film. One of our favourite pieces was the corset-style bodice that flowed into a trail of peach organza petals; lifted by the pleated tulle skirt beneath. This dress has the power to incite a change of heart in even the most biased basic-lovers (we stand as proof).
Along with the finished product, the best part about purchasing a bespoke gown is the experience—so let’s talk a little bit about the ambience of the new location. Large shop-front windows and tall decorative ceilings capture an abundance of natural light. The oak hardwood floors complement the rosy pink interior, which emanates a 1950’s Parisian ‘ooh-la-la’ vibe. The old character of the building adds to the high-end appeal of the label, which is why the Norwood location makes perfect sense.
In celebration of the store’s opening, we were spoilt for choice with a delectable selection of food and drink from some of Adelaide’s other favourite names. Ambra Liquors mixed us summery concoctions that went down just a little too easy, while Howard’s Vineyard served up the bubbles. Cristarella Cakes also came through with some incredible delicacies which replicated Cristina’s high-class feminine trademark. While we indulged, fashion illustrator Tizianna Rinna left guests in awe as we watched the progression of her painting – our favourite frock!
The store can be found right on the corner at 258, The Parade, Norwood. Couture + Love + Madness is open Fridays and Saturdays from 10 – 5, or by appointment—So be sure to drop by for a marvel!
