This autumn/winter season, we’re continuing to see a huge resurgence of 90s trends. From sweater vests to pleated skirts, combat boots to shackets, it seems every 90s trend is cycling through the radar right now, with a hint of 70s thrown in for good measure (dreamy pastel swirls and flares, we’re looking at you). We’re absolutely loving this retro revolution, and have been fully throwing ourselves into stocking our wardrobes with fun knits and patterns. Our latest picks from Femme Luxe pay homage to these trends in the form of a checked shacket and our favourite vest from our last post, but in inverted colours.
Kristen’s pick this month is this cute sage shacket. Never heard of a shacket? Like all those tasty pastries that combine one thing with another, e.g. a croissant and muffin hybrid is a cruffin, a shacket is a shirt and jacket hybrid. Slightly thicker than a regular shirt but a little too thin to be considered a proper jacket, it’s the perfect in-between piece to thrown on when the weather starts to turn. Kristen’s worn it here open over a crop top and jeans, however it makes a great layering piece under a bigger jacket, and creates a military-chic look when buttoned up and tucked into some bottoms or a skirt. Femme Luxe have this shacket available in pink, purple, sage and black, as well as a few other styles.
Last month, we wrote about this super chic white houndstooth knitted vest that Kristen was gifted and has been wearing everywhere since. We loved it so much, we both selected it in the black version this month. Mel’s styled it with a black leather skirt, but it’s the perfect piece to be layered over turtlenecks and shirts when the weather cools down, and tucked into trousers and worn loose over a pleated skirt.
