If you’ve ever felt that the bar scene in Adelaide is lacking, you might want to think again. Turns out there are a plethora of gems that are merely out of plain sight and Adelaide Bar Boys are here to help you find them.
Tie up your shoelaces, have the Berocca waiting on the bedside table and get ready for a sensational Hidden Bar Tour.
Starting at the East End of the Adelaide CBD, you will share a drink with your friendly hosts Branden and Nathan while they give you a quick rundown of the evening and introduce you to the rest of the group (capped at 10). It’s this relaxed approach that ensures the walking tour soon feels like a night out with mates, albeit a damn classy one.
The idea behind this immersive experience stemmed from the boys travelling Europe and, due to their hospo backgrounds, knowing that Adelaide has equally as much to offer. In their eyes, you just need to know where to look.
Sometimes it’s a hidden door, a discreetly positioned set of stairs, or even a faux fireplace that leads to six beautifully decorated and incredibly unique watering holes. Each will offer a signature cocktail, with a clear focus on South Australian distilleries that ensures a distinctively local experience.
It doesn’t matter if you’re from out of town or a lifelong Adelaidian—this tour is full of surprises and a whole lot of “I’d have never guessed this place existed.” It’s a bizarre but warm feeling because a number of these venues are really buzzing with patrons and party vibes. Others offer a more intimate setting, which is perfect for settling down with the abundance of food that is included in the package.
Trust us, you won’t go hungry.
Going the extra mile, the boys will also check on your dietary requirements when you book, guaranteeing everyone is looked after.
The experience runs for four-and-a-half hours and results in you slowly making your way from the East to the West of Adelaide’s inner-city district. Part of the concept was based on the proximity of establishments in this fine city, ensuring perfect accessibility for the tour and taking in the sights along the way.
Branden and Nathan have spent plenty of time crafting the perfect itinerary and building relations with these establishments. Not only do they take all the effort out of finding something to do, the preferential service means it’s done in style.
Hidden Bar Tours will be running all year round, but there’s probably no better time to get involved than now, as they offer an event as part of the Adelaide Fringe. It’s perfect for the local that wants to explore a little more, the interstater that is getting to know Adelaide, or businessperson wanting to entertain a group after work.
Not only do Adelaide Bar Boys also offer a whiskey and gin tour, there’s plenty more in the works. Keep an eye out for a beer tour, a Mother’s Day champagne tour, and an Adelaide Hills experience that includes wineries and a trip to Monarto to feed the Lions.
Adelaide Bar Boys are across it all and act as perfect middlemen to connect you to a uniquely South Australian experience. As Adelaidians, we couldn’t be happier to see that.
