Nestled in the up and coming suburb of Waterloo you’ll find the floral-filled Social Hideout, a dreamy cafe that was simply made for the ‘gram.
Recognisable from afar, the cafe’s floral arrangements are, of course, what catches the eye first. But the flower power doesn’t stop at the exterior. Step through the entrance and you are greeted with a wildly stunning ceiling filled with draped lavender, as well as more intricate floral decor boasting soft pinks and purples.
Neon signage complements the dreamy space, while a painted mural of the iconic Audrey Hepburn illuminates up the far left wall. Everything about Social Hideout has been carefully curated to Instagram perfection.
Being particularly buzzing on the weekends, influencers and brunch-fanatics alike flock to the cafe to get their Social Hideout fix. The menu normally features a number of classic brunch and lunch picks with unique twists. Currently, they offer a recently launched selection of Japanese fusion dishes.
When we paid Social Hideout a visit the other week to sample their new eats, we had so much fun flicking through the menu. While dishes such as the taro hotcakes and Hikiniku Omuretsu (omlette) sounded a treat, we opted for the Social Breakfast and Char Siu Benedict to start our day.
We also slurped on a signature ‘bath coffee’, which pretty much consists of coffee in a mini bath-shaped cup. Topped with fairy floss and rich cream, it’s both super indulgent and super photogenic!

The Social Breakfast is the cafe’s own version of a classic ‘big breakfast’. It serves up a hearty feast of bacon, avocado, miso mushrooms, roasted herby tomatoes, broccolini, tomato relish, eggs your way and The Grounds sourdough. You can also switch it up to your personal taste by adding extras or taking things out. We added chorizo and smoked salmon.
The Char Siu Benedict is exactly as the name suggests; Eggs Benedict with a Japanese twist. Offering pulled pork, char siu hollandaise, spinach, poached eggs, crispy prosciutto and fat brioche, it’s a rich and flavoursome favourite.
