This Thursday, multitalented Russian beauty Katya Komarova launched her capsule collection ‘En Pointe’ at the Finesse Showrooms on Gunson Street.
We got our dancing shoes on as we stepped into an entrancing space where elegant Finesse Models stood against a ballet barre practicing their pointe technique and positions. The set up was an artistic installment fitted to the theme ‘En Pointe’, showcasing the Katya Komarova range.
With bold orchestral ballet music playing softly in the background, guests stared in awe at the beauty of the garments sitting ever so eloquently on the models standing centre stage.
Refreshments were generously provided, including a choice of red, white or sparkling wine by Sidewood Wines and a selection of gourmet cheeses such as ashed goats cheese, cow’s milk brie and smokey buffalo cheese from Woodside Cheeses located up in the Adelaide Hills.
Host Filip With an F took to the front of the room, welcoming Katya up to ask her some questions about her collection, background and inspirations.
Katya answered with grace, “The Australian women are beautiful, they really inspire me. As do the Australian beaches, but I also try to remember my Russian roots in the making of this collection.”
“I don’t want to forget the great Russian culture so I’m bringing it in little pieces to you in Australia with my collection ‘En Pointe’.”
Katya mentioned her favourite garment, a black chiffon shirt dress with cut-out sleeves, short front and a low back, was one of the most versatile pieces and a summer must-have. Being able to wear the shirt dress with jeans, shorts, heels and even by itself, it really is quite the staple wardrobe item.
“I want women to have flexibility and comfort whilst still being able to look elegant at all times,” says Katya.
“She doesn’t have to change from daywear to night. She can walk into any situation or event and be confident because she’s dressed well.”
Having been involved in the Australian and international fashion scene for a while as a Finesse model herself, Katya has had some amazing experiences on the pages of ELLE, Marie Claire, Harpers Bazaar and working with clients such as La Perla, Max Mara, Alexander McQueen and L’Oreal.
Katya was also chosen as the face of Variety on King William for this year’s Adelaide Fashion Festival, which you can buy tickets to here.
Including a variety of tailored pants, denim tops, dresses, skirts, leather handbags and belts, the ‘En Pointe’ range is certainly on point for this summer’s wardrobe necessities.
