Mamma mia! Jock Zonfrillo has done it again! The mastermind behind Blackwood and Orana has made yet another brainchild a reality in the form of a quirky Peel Street food truck.
Nonna Mallozzi is a pasta and panini truck serving fresh food inspired by the authentic dishes Jock grew up with. With at least two types of pasta on offer for $12 and panini for $9, this simple menu is delightfully welcoming and feels just like home.
Stefano, Alessandro and Gus who run day-to-day operations treat you like one of their own while they learn your name, serenade you with lively tunes, and make sure their food is being thoroughly enjoyed.
With Nonna’s stamp of approval these guys also serve breakfast; panini and croissants served in the traditional Italian way with vanilla, chocolate custard or apple sauce.
Sitting in the elusive Adelaide sunshine, the penne bolognese was absolute perfection with freshly shaved parmesan sprinkled generously on top. The serving sizes are authentically Italian too, but thankfully Nonna knows you’ll eat it later and the dishes are available with a takeaway lid. I guarantee you any leftovers won’t last very long – mine definitely didn’t!
With the combination of incredible food, coffee, and charming staff, it’s clear to see why this food truck is already popular and drawing in regulars and passersby alike. Open 8am to 5pm, go and enjoy a classic, homemade meal just like Nonna used to make!
