Now that the last season of Game of Thrones is well and truly underway (cries) we’re already mentally preparing ourselves for the inevitable end, and the hole in our TV lives it will leave. Luckily for us, we were invited to the season two Premiere of Riviera with Now TV, and after one episode, we’re hooked.
Set in the French Riviera (where we just visited, hello Nice nostalgia), the show follows Georgina Clios (Julia Stiles), an art curator whose billionaire husband is killed in a yacht accident. As she tries to figure out the truth behind his death, she ends up discovering much more than she planned on.
If you’re a fan of beautiful cinematography, expensive clothes and fast cars, Riviera is for you. Plenty of the picturesque scenes are set against a backdrop of the glittering Côte d’Azur, and the incredibly blue water, Mediterranean-style villas and dramatic cliffsides will have you mentally preparing your next escape to Europe. Aside from the holiday fantasies, the intriguing storyline twists and turns through insane parties and monolithic superyachts, keeping you on your toes through every moment.
To celebrate the launch, Now TV and Sky Atlantic threw a party fit for the show itself at the iconic Saatchi Gallery in London. A red carpet welcomed guests through the door, while a real flower wall encouraged loads of snaps for the ‘gram. Inside the waiters were always by your side the minute your champagne glass was nearing empty, and the canapes were so beautifully presented under birdcages and glass cloches they were almost too perfect to eat.
We also got a fun little snap taken of us in the kaleidoscopic style of the opening theme for Riviera, and we do look pretty fabulous if we may say so ourselves. Just before the screening of season two episode one, core members of the cast came onstage to give a speech, including the iconic Julia Stiles and newcomer to the show Poppy Delevigne.
If you think we’re going to give you any spoilers for the new season, you can think again. The new season will be available on Now TV on 23 May, and if you’ve got some catching up to do, you can watch the first season here.
