Photo Diary: A weekend in Nice

Nice is a stunning seaside town to visit any time of year, incredibly popular during the summer but just as beautiful during the winter months. Coming from London, we spent two nights and three days here in early Feb and it was the most sunshine we’d seen for a little while!

Things got off to a bit of a rocky start as on our first night there we happened to experience one of Nice’s twice a year storms, or so the waiter at the restaurant we were hiding out at told us. Hail the size of small stones literally turned the streets of Nice white, while turbulent winds, buckets of rain and thunder and lightning rocked the city.

By midday the next day the sky had cleared up though and it was blue skies and sunshine for the rest of the trip. We had such an amazing time wandering the antique market, strolling down the famous Promenade des Anglias and, of course, eating as much as we could fit into our weekend there.

The people of Nice were some of the friendliest we’ve ever encountered throughout all our travels. When it was raining down on us a lovely lady let us shelter in her patisserie (while we chowed down on freshly baked quiche and pain au chocolat) and she sat and chatted with us about life along the Côte d’Azur. When walking down the street a passerby heard our accents and stopped us to tell us about a beautiful market just down the road we should visit, and at restaurants, all the waiters offered impeccable customer service and always slipped a little extra onto your table.

We’ll have a little vlog up soon on our adventures in Nice, but below we’ve chosen a couple of our favourite pics to show you around this beautiful spot in the French Riviera.
