Proof of Life Festival

This weekend, the capital of our Festival State (Radelaide) celebrates the birth of a new festival, Proof of Life. Beginning Friday 6 November (tomorrow) until Saturday 14 November, the festival has been established to both celebrate and provide opportunities to local music artists. The festival aims to promote new music to new audiences as well as endorse local artists and venues.

The independently organised festival has the support of many organisations including the State Government, the Adelaide City Council and Fresh 92.7. While only in its first year, Proof of Life Festival has plans to expand to be somewhat like the Fringe Festival in 2016. HEYO.

To kick off the bonanza, the Proof of Life Festival launch party is being held at 5:30pm this Friday 6 November at Exeter Hotel on Rundle Street. Following this, there will be a Loose Change Busking Challenge held throughout the CBD over the weekend. The festival encourages this event as a way to “take risks, test new material, practice playing in front of a crowd, or to simply have fun…”. If you’re a budding muso, Proof of Life would love to see you saxophoning around the city so you can be in the running for the “Busking Key to the City”. If you’re not afraid of the spotlight, you’ll be stoked thatProof of Life will have mini stages throughout the city on which you can showcase your talent.

If you want to discover Adelaide’s next star, they will be sprawled across the city tomorrow, along North Terrace Saturday, and surrounding the lake in Rymill Park on Sunday.

The events don’t stop there.

There are plenty of discussions to be involved in too. For example, on Monday 9 November from 5:30 to 7:30pm there will be a discussion concerning women in music held at St Paul’s Creative Centre, Pulteney Street, Adelaide. Proof of Lifewants to discover and discuss why the music industry is less than 20% women, and how they can fix this.
