Stay warm with Don Julio this fiesta season

The party season is well and truly upon us, with Halloween and Day of the Dead starting the celebrations off with a spooky bang.

Anyone who’s met us will know our love for tequila, both in shot form and blended in exotic cocktails. Although we couldn’t make it to Mexico to celebrate Día de Muertos, we honoured the Mexican tradition right here in London with a variety of parties and by whipping up some of our fave drinks using Don Julio tequila.

Helping us bring the fiesta into our own dining room and carry it on through the winter season, Don Julio sent us a bottle of their luxury tequila and some exciting cocktail recipes to try out. Temperatures are plummeting in London right now (bad timing for us to be running around in cheap Ebay Halloween costumes) but a couple of these bad boys and we were warm and ready to go.

If you’re a tequila lover like us and want to whip up some festive cocktails to get you through the chilly season, here are three of our favourite ones you can create in a heartbeat.

In celebration of the Mexican holiday, Don Julio’s Day of the Dead Margarita is sure to get your bones rattling. Created by muddling jalapenos in a glass, then adding orange liquor, fresh blood orange, fresh lime juice and two measures of Don Julio Blanco, it’s the perfect way to start the festivities on any evening.

Lovers of the classics can never go wrong with Tommy’s Margarita, shaking together Don Julio Blanco or Reposado, fresh lime juice and triple sec, then straining into a salt-rimmed glass.

For those who are after something a little more simple, the Paloma will sate your tequila craving by serving Don Julio Reposado, grapefruit juice and soda water in a tall glass topped with ice.

We’ll be carrying on celebrating throughout the festive season with Don Julio to keep us warm, and hopefully we end up looking a little better after a few measures than we do in the pic below.
