Gone are the days for Mount Gambier residents to be stuck with nothing to wear for their next special event.
Mount Gambier’s Caitlin Kennedy, 22, has opened the city’s first designer rental boutique Envy Attire Hire.
With brands ranging from Alice McCall to Thurley, Shona Joy to Kookai, there is no excuse to be underdressed, offering sizes ranging from size 6 to 14 and expanding daily.
Caitlin decided to expand her hiring reach beyond her family and friends using a wardrobe full of garments that had only been worn once.
“It seemed like such a shame to waste these beautiful outfits by only wearing them once, so why not hire them out?” she said.
“I want everybody to have the opportunity to wear designer garments, not to be restricted by the price tag.”
I knew hire businesses were extremely popular in larger areas, but I did not know how well it would go in Mount Gambier.
Creating an Instagram and Facebook page for her business, Caitlin said she was overwhelmed with the amount of support she has received so far, including a large amount of followers from all across Australia.
“I knew hire businesses were extremely popular in larger areas, but I did not know how well it would go in Mount Gambier,” she said.
“I jumped into it, with no back-up plan, so it was sink or swim.”
The business, currently run from home, will expand into a shop front in Mount Gambier’s main street this July, joined by local makeup artist Chelsea Feast and lash technician Leanne Lewins.
Drawing inspiration from popular Adelaide hire boutiques, Caitlin said she was excited to bring something new to the area.
“It has created a real buzz among local women who are excited to have access to the latest designer fashion, along with trying garments on before they hire,” she said.
“We have also partnered with local stylist Kellie Nobes from What Kel Wore who will pop into store occasionally to help style women of all shapes and sizes for their next special event.”
