Melbourne’s culture is renowned worldwide for its vibrant tapestry of cuisines, live music, eclectic venues and colourful laneways. These things make the Melbourne CBD (and even some surrounding suburbs) a dream to walk around in, with something new and exciting tucked away on every corner. On a recent trip to Melbourne, we got to take our city adventure up a notch with another one of Amazing Co’s picnics, this time around the iconic laneways of this fun city.
Like with all Amazing Co’s adventures, you start with a selection of clues being delivered to your phone. You’ll need to solve the first clue to figure out where your experience will start, and then keep solving the clues to find out where you need to head to next. With each stop you’ll either pick up a delicious local treat to add to our picnic basket, or get to explore one of Melbourne’s famous graffiti laneways.
Our picnic experience started off at the incredible Queen Victoria Markets, one of the best places in the city to explore local produce. We picked up a mouth-watering selection of cheese, meats, bread, pickles, dips and more to add to our picnic basket, as well as purchased some additional fresh bread and local jam for our breakfasts while we were on holiday.
The next few clues we solved took us on a walking tour to see some of the graffiti hotspots around the city. To finish up our picnic selection, we collected some bread from a cute cafe and a decadent pavlova-style dessert laden with fresh cream and strawberries.
The weather had decided to turn on us after we’d collected everything, so as it started raining we headed back to our hotel to dive into our tasty lunchtime picnic. As soon as we got back however it stopped raining and the sun came out (classic Melbourne), however we decided to relax at Quest Apartments Flemington Central anyway as we were pretty tired after a big day of travel and adventure picnicking.
