Akhal Beauty is an organic skincare range from Morocco that does more than just create fresh skincare. Inspired by a trip back to her native country, founder Myriam Baïssa wanted to share traditional Moroccan beauty secrets to people back home in Australia, while also helping poverty-stricken communities in Morocco.
All the ingredients used in the Akhal Beauty range have been harvested ethically by local growers in South Morocco. The workers are paid a fair wage for their work, and $1 from every product purchased goes towards a charitable cause to help in the development of marginalised communities.
Akhal Beauty products are made in micro-batches as Myriam believes this ensures the freshest and most concentrated product possible. There are currently four products in the range, and each product is pretty unique to Akhal Beauty. With products like Organic Prickly Pear Seed Oil, Organic Argan Kernal Oil, Pure Rhassoul Clay and Organic Rose Hydrolat, you have to admit your curiosity is piqued.
We were sent the Akhal Beauty range to try and we were pretty intrigued by the products. Neither of us had tried any products similar to the ones in this range (except for Argan oil which has become a staple in almost everyone’s skincare routine lately) and who doesn’t love finding new, innovative products?

I was super excited to try the Pure Rhassoul Clay Mask as I love relaxing at the end of the day with a mask on. The clay powder comes from pure rhassoul rocks that have been mined and purified by hand in Morocco. The idea is that you mix a small amount of water with the powder to form a paste, then apply to your face and neck. This was a little bit harder than initially thought, but if you add little drops of water to the clay as you keep mixing you can avoid getting awkward lumps in your paste.
Once the paste was mixed, I applied it generously to my face and laid back on my bed for ten minutes. As the clay dried, my face felt tingly and tight. I tried not to move my face much to avoid the clay from cracking. Once the time was up, I washed it off by simply rubbing water in circles around my face. My skin felt super smooth and soft afterwards, like I’d just been to the spa!
The Organic Argan Kernal Oil is another item I’ve added to my daily routine. Argan oil has been a part of in beauty routines for some time now, whether it be on my skin, hair or nails. The bottle recommends using two-to-three drops on your face after cleansing and toning to moisturise your skin. While I do use Argan oil on its own, if I feel like using a moisturiser on my face instead I’ll mix a few drops of the oil into the cream before applying. When using Argan oil, it’s important to remember to warm it between your fingers before applying! This ensures it’s absorbed quickly and properly into your skin, giving you the moist moisture and leaving you with a fresh glow.

I am quite prone to getting dry, flaky patches on and around my nose, so I was happy to get my hands on the Akhal Organic Prickly Pear Seed Oil which is used for face and neck. Even upon first application, this oil treatment feels nourishing, immediately giving my face a moisturising glow. It has an earthy yet still very pleasant aroma, and the oil itself is of a thick texture with a yellowy-green colour. I’ve tried many night-time oils (with my favourite being rose-hip oil) however, Akhal’s Prickly Pear Seed Oil may be the new product to shake up things up with my current skincare routine!
Aromatic notes of sweet florals make the Organic Rose Hydrolat an absolute pleasure to use; it smells almost good enough to eat! Feeling cool and refreshing on the skin upon application, this organic hydrolat is designed to be used after cleansing the face and neck, acting as a toner and a hydration device that also fights inflammation (great for pimples). This is another great product I have been using to fight the dryness I get around my nose and it can actually be purchased as a value pack alongside the Prickly Pear Oil. Together, these two 100% certified, cruelty free, vegan and ethical products from Akhal have been a bit of a dry-skin combatting miracle… now the only challenge is to keep up the routine.
