We first came across Alpha-Be in previous Adelaide Central Plaza boutique The Showroom, and then again in Wildchild Style Lab on King William Road. We were instantly drawn to the structured, bonded material, dramatly flowing detail and feminine colour palette.
Mel picked up the ‘Skylar Spiral Top’ from Wildchild to wear to Darby Day at Morphetteville during the Spring Racing Carnival, and from that head designers and co-founders Brenda Chang and Cathy Karuga contacted us, eager to collaborate with us on a shoot.
We each selected our favourite look from the S/S17 ‘Whimsical Wonderland’ collection, first debut during New York Fashion Week in the ‘Fashion Palette’ runway. Kristen chose the ‘Victoria One Shoulder Top’ and ‘Twist on Tuxedo Pant’, a sleek white set that when worn together makes a powerful evening outfit. Mel is obsessed with the dramatic ‘Royale Top’, an off-the-shoulder creation that features a full-length draping back, paired with the ‘Hudson Short’ which has spiral front detailing.
The day after we received the clothes was one of the few picture-perfect days we’ve had this summer, so we thought we’d spend a day enjoying the sunshine by the beach at Port Noarlunga.
Though only established in 2015, the clothing coming out of Alpha-Be has already put them in numerous popular boutiques around Adelaide and earned them a following from many of the fashion community. To view the full range of clothing from Alpha-Be, head to their website here.
