Australia might have its beaches, but London has its rooftops and it wouldn’t be a summer season without the relaunch of Roof East. Dusting off the snow from the winter chalets and opening up all the spaces to let the sunshine in, our fave rooftop spot is ready to welcome the new summer season.
Palm trees, flower-filled car boots and fairy lights are still hanging around to give the place its signature vibe, however a bold new colour palette gives it a warm weather feel. There are plenty of spots for you to snap the perfect Instagram pic, whether swinging a club at mini golf, sitting in front of a vibrantly coloured wall or posing by one of the iconic cars.
A brand new food vendor has set up shop for summer, and DO WE RECOMMEND IT. East Chay specialises in vegan bao buns, and while we love a good karaage chicken or pork belly bao, these buns honestly take the cake. Easily the best bao we’ve had in London, the buns are slightly sticky on the outside but wonderfully fluffy on the inside, and the BBQ pulled jackfruit is sweet, salty and saucy; everything you want inside a bao. If you try one food while you’re at Roof East this summer, make it Eat Chay. Trust us, you won’t regret it.
Summery new cocktails can be found on the revamped list, like the rum and raspberry Knickerbocker Royale or the bright blue tequila-based Electric Boogaloo. A selection of refreshing wines and delicious beers are also available, putting something on offer to tickle everyone’s fancy.
As well as the staple Sluggers batting cages, Sliders curling and De La Bowls lawn bowls, a new VR foosball game is ready to bring out your competitive side. House of Foos is an innovative new way to play foosball, by donning VR headsets and diving into the digital world.
Wind down by relaxing at Rooftop Film Club, returning to play all our favourite movies for the summer. With deck chairs, popcorn and a stunning view of the London city skyline, it’s the perfect first date location that’s sure to impress.
