Just the other week, ESK Skincare launched a brand new product, the Hydroxy Overnight Mask. Said to have medicinal properties, this mask can be used to manage acne, premature aging, and transepidermal water loss.
We’ll admit, we were a little put off when we heard one of the product’s ingredients is found in the urine of mammals. Crazy, right? We know it sounds whack, but there’s a perfectly normal, scientific reason behind this.
The ingredient – known as Urea – is a protein by-product that actually happens to play a role in the preservation of skin hydration and integrity. It attracts and binds to water molecules, keeping in hydration and resisting wrinkling. Boom – science, b*tch.
We’ve used the Hydroxy Overnight Mask a couple of times already as directed on the package. Using it 1-2 times a week, we pop it on in place of our usual skincare routine and sleep in it. The cream is a soft, velvety texture and applies very smoothly to the skin. There’s no particular smell, so it’s perfect to fall asleep in with no distraction.
The mask acts overnight as the 5% Salicylic Acid works to exfoliate the skin. Meanwhile, the 10% Urea moisturises and softens the skin, so it’s a nice balancing effect.
What’s also cool is that while the cream is a mask, it can also be used as a spot treatment for pimples when they arise. The Hydroxy Overnight Mask’s multi-use ability makes it a versatile addition to your skincare routine. Who doesn’t love a little versatility in their life?
