Adelaide Fringe kicked off last week with a massive parties, shows and events all over the Adelaide CBD.
A very special event that took place was Moving Too Fast, a song cycle performed by phenomenal vocalist Michaela Burgerr, and Adelaide Cabaret Festival Associate Producer and performer, Zac Tyler.
Michaela is a full time performer with State Opera of South Australia, and is well known for her critically acclaimed cabaret show, Exposing Edith. She has won awards such as the 2015 International Cabaret Contest, as well as performed alongside Broadway’s Jason Robert Brown. Michaela hails from Adelaide, and is a founding member of Adelaide’s Weimer Room. In fact, her history of performance and cabaret is so impressive that I could probably go on for another eight paragraphs.
Zac has a similarly impressive background, having made his professional debut with the Singapore Lyric Opera in 2007/2008. He has since performed in a variety of roles, his most recent involvement being THE AUSSIE BOYS, which is a three-man headlining cabaret act. After a very successful 2012 Fringe act, Unspoken Language, Zac continued to develop cabaret shows for more festivals.
The 2016 Fringe will mark the world premiere of Moving Too Fast, the result of these two supernovas coming together. The show “aims to portray life’s most gloriously complicated and passionate moments.” It will hit hard for those stuck in a mid-life crisis, a quarter-life crisis, or perhaps just a general life crisis. We all know how complicated things can get — And Moving Too Fast will only having you second-guessing even more.
Both Michaela and Zac are very excited to see their hard work finally come together at The Adelaide Fringe. They will be supported by a group of impressive local musicians: Mark Ferguson, Alana Dawes, and Jarred Payne.
Together. Michaela and Zac captivated audiences with a quirky and odd sort of charm which they presented alongside the music. Their dazzling duets proved that they are among some of the greatest cabaret performers in Adelaide, and those with a taste for cabaret should keep an eye out for their shows.
