Picture yourself sipping on some Pimms, enjoying a game of croquet in the midst of a warm summer’s evening with Melbourne’s picturesque city skyline as your backdrop. It just so happens this exact image was us at the start of the week, immersing ourselves in the Melbourne edition of Royal Croquet Club.
Perhaps our one of our favourite things about RCC Melbourne was the garden party set-up and cityscape views lining the horizon. Complete with a huge stereo stage, multiple platforms for drinking with a view and a riverside location at Birrarung Marr, Melbourne took the Croquet Club to a whole ‘nother level.
Having opened just last weekend with music acts Fortunes, Electric Fields, Touch Sensitive and Cleopold, RCC set the beats bar pretty damn high this time ’round. The rest of the two-week extravaganza will see performances from the likes of Aston Shuffle, Dope Lemon (Angus Stone), Generik, KLP, Klue, Midnight Juggernauts, Stace Cadet and so much more.
Roaming performers added a quirky twist; we witnessed two glowing Christmas angels gliding around the tables and scaring a confused pug at one point.
And let’s not forget about the delicious food: POW Kitchen, 8bit. Burgers, Hoy Pinoy, Up in Smoke, Mr. Chow, lil’ nomnoms and Gelato Messina are all serving up the goods at RCC Melbourne.
