On Thursday evening, we found ourselves descending candlelit stairs and into a most Gatsby-esque wonderland in the basement bar of Pirie & Co. Social Club. The occasion? Well, the launch of She Means Business Events (SMBE), of course. It only seemed fitting that a fabulous new events service such as SMBE would be launched via such extravagant means.
To the left of the entrance was a media wall guarded by dazzling burlesque duo Peaches n Gin, posing for that sought-after press shot. To the front stood an open bar pouring champagne and wine by the dozen, with fresh Coco Detox juice by Nutrition Republic as a healthier alternative. To the right and around the corner were endless exciting activations including a monogramming station by The Bag Collective, a champagne tower, a lolly station and a huge table full of delectable cheese and antipasto.
Mid-event, guests were called to the stage to enjoy a show put on by the feathery Peaches n Gin girls. The ever elegant media personality and TV presenter Rebecca Morse then introduced SMBE owner Abbey Cooke, who made her way onto the stage in a glittering black Ae’lkemi gown from Something Borrowed Adelaide. Abbey spoke of her inspiration and her journey venturing into events business, enlightening the audience of her true passion for the industry.
The party didn’t stop after formalities; everyone flocked to the flowing champagne tower, snapping the ultimate Instagram boomerang and grabbing a glass to toast the launch of SMBE. The rest of the night included indulging on mouthfuls of blue cheese and honey, snapping pics in the photobooth, attempting to finish the never-ending rows of champagne from the tower and mingling to some ultimate party tunes.
